Toney Bland

Toney Bland
Deputy Comptroller Northeastern District

Toney M. Bland has served as the Deputy Comptroller for the Northeastern District in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), since March 2005.

Mr. Bland is responsible for the oversight of more than 200 community banks, 33 independent national trust companies, and 16 independent data service providers. In this capacity, he manages a staff of more than 350 bank examiners and other professional and support personnel located in the Northeastern District Office in New York City and in field offices in Bensalem, Pennsylvania; Boston, Massachusetts; Charleston, West Virginia; Charlotte, North Carolina; Edison, New Jersey; Monroeville, Pennsylvania; New York, New York; Roanoke, Virginia; Syracuse, New York; Washington, D.C., and Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. This staff of field examiners includes safety and soundness examiners as well as specialists in asset management, bank information systems, capital markets, consumer compliance, and credit.

Mr. Bland started his OCC career as an Assistant National Bank Examiner in Milwaukee. He was commissioned as a National Bank Examiner in 1986. In addition, he has served as a Field Office and Systems Analyst, a Field Manager, and an Assistant Deputy Comptroller for Supervision of Community and Midsize Banks. Prior to his current position, he served as the Senior Advisor for Midsize/Community Bank Supervision in the OCC’s national headquarters in Washington, D.C.

A native of Wisconsin, Mr. Bland received his bachelor of science degree in business administration and economics from Carroll College, Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Mr. Bland and his wife, Tina, reside in New Jersey.
