WASHINGTON — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today announced that Morris Morgan will be the agency’s Senior Deputy Comptroller for Large Bank Supervision.
In this role Mr. Morgan will direct more than 700 men and women who supervise the country’s largest national banks and federal branches and agencies. He will serve as a member of the OCC's Executive Committee and the Committee on Bank Supervision. He also will oversee the operations of the agency’s International Banking Supervision group and the OCC's London Office. He will assume these responsibilities on December 24, 2016.
“We are fortunate to be able to turn to a career examiner to fill this important role,” said Comptroller of the Currency Thomas J. Curry. “Morris has proved his mettle over more than 30 years in the field and at headquarters in a variety of bank supervision roles. I look forward to him joining the agency’s most senior leadership team.”
During his OCC career, Mr. Morgan has served as Examiner-in-Charge (EIC) of Bank of America and PNC and served as Deputy Comptroller for Large Bank Supervision. He has held a variety of leadership roles with increasing responsibility related to supervisory information systems, data analytics, capital markets, asset management, and commercial credit.
Mr. Morgan joined the OCC in 1985 and became a commissioned National Bank Examiner in 1989. He earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1999 and holds a BBA in finance from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Mr. Morgan will succeed Marty Pfinsgraff who is stepping down to begin leave in advance of his retirement in February. “From the OCC’s Semiannual Risk Perspective to the implementation of most of the post-crisis supervisory changes affecting large banks, Marty has left his mark on our agency and the federal banking system,” Comptroller Curry said.
