Overview

This booklet is the central reference for the OCC's bank supervision policy, explains the OCC's risk-based bank supervision approach, and discusses the general supervisory process, for all types of OCC-supervised banks. Examiners use this booklet in conjunction with the "Community Bank Supervision," "Federal Branches and Agencies Supervision," "Large Bank Supervision," and other booklets of the Comptroller's Handbook, as applicable.

Applicability

This booklet is prepared for use by OCC examiners in connection with their examination and supervision of national banks and federal savings associations. References to national banks in this booklet also generally apply to federal branches and agencies of foreign banking organizations. Refer to 12 USC 3102(b) and the "Federal Branches and Agencies Supervision" booklet of the Comptroller's Handbook for more information.
