Justin Watson served as Acting Comptroller of the Currency from March 24, 1973 until July 4, 1973. His tenure followed the term of William B. Camp, the 22nd Comptroller of the Currency and preceded the swearing in of James E. Smith, the 23rd Comptroller of the Currency.
Mr. Watson joined the OCC in 1945 after serving as a lieutenant and bomber pilot in the U.S. Eighth Air Force in England during World War II. He was appointed Chief National Bank Examiner in 1962.
Mr. Watson was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 19, 1920. He graduated from Western Reserve University and the Central States Banking School of the University of Wisconsin.
