WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today announced that Dean DeBuck has been named director for press relations. Mr. DeBuck will report to Leonora S. Cross, Deputy Comptroller for Public Affairs.
In his new position, Mr. DeBuck will be responsible for planning and managing the OCC's day-to-day news media relations activities. His selection is effective June 24.
For the past 14 years, Mr. DeBuck has been a public affairs specialist at the OCC. He was responsible for managing news media relations on a wide variety of subjects, including the OCC's regulatory review program, capital markets activities, and international issues. Until 1994, when he became a senior public affairs specialist, he also oversaw OCC's disclosure of public documents, including responses to requests under the Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts. Before joining the OCC in 1982, Mr. DeBuck served as a public information specialist for five years at the U.S. Department of State.
Mr. DeBuck holds a BA in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA , and an MS in public information administration from The American University, Washington, DC.
