WASHINGTON—The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency today issued a proclamation allowing national bank and federal savings association offices affected by the Hurricane Irene to close at their discretion.
In issuing the proclamation, Senior Deputy Comptroller for Midsize and Community Bank Supervision Jennifer Kelly said she expects that only those bank offices directly affected by the hurricane will close. The proclamation is being issued in anticipation of emergency conditions. Affected offices should make every effort to reopen as quickly as possible to address the banking needs of their customers, she added.
