Servicemembers Civil Relief Act of 2003
Overview
This booklet addresses compliance with the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, which protects members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, including members of the National Guard, as they enter active duty, as well as commissioned officers of the Public Health Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration engaged in active service. Some benefits extend to servicemembers' spouses, dependents, and other persons subject to the financial obligations of servicemembers.
Applicability
This booklet applies to the OCC's supervision of national banks and federal savings associations. For statutes, regulations, and guidance referenced in this booklet, consult those sources to determine applicability to federal savings associations. References to national banks in this booklet also generally apply to federal branches and agencies of foreign banking organizations. Refer to 12 USC 3102(b) and the "Federal Branches and Agencies Supervision" booklet of the Comptroller's Handbook for more information.
