Lauren Oppenheimer is the Senior Deputy Comptroller for Public Affairs and Chief of Staff for Acting Comptroller of the Currency Michael J. Hsu.
In this role, Ms. Oppenheimer serves as a member of the Executive Committee and advances the priorities of the Acting Comptroller. She manages all Public Affairs functions for the agency. This includes leading the work of Media Relations, Congressional Affairs, Banking Relations, External Outreach and Minority Affairs, Editorial, Design and Disclosure Services, Web Content, and Digital Services. She also oversees the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion and directs the daily operations of the Acting Comptroller's Front Office and staff. She assumed this role in December of 2021.
Prior to joining the OCC, Ms. Oppenheimer was the Director of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs at the Department of Commerce. She also previously worked on Capitol Hill in the Senate, for two Senators and as the Minority Staff Director for the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Protection, as well as in the House of Representatives for two Members of Congress on the U.S. House Financial Services Committee.
She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Toronto and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics.
