Sean Lewis-Faupel is a Senior Financial Economist in the Compliance Risk Analysis Division within Supervision Risk & Analysis at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
Dr. Lewis-Faupel joined the OCC in 2016. He provides quantitative analysis and model risk insights for fair lending and BSA examinations, and his expertise in statistical inference, machine learning, alternative credit data, and labor economics helps inform the agency’s policy efforts. In addition, he conducts research on disparities in credit access, wages, housing, and education with a focus on the impact of race, neighborhoods, and social interactions. He also studies the microeconomic effects of new technology on banking and other industries.
Dr. Lewis-Faupel holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University.
