The above-named bank has reported that counterfeit cashier’s checks issued in the bank’s name are being presented for payment. The counterfeit checks may be identified by the following. The checks have a memo line that reads: Tri-Star. Each of the checks appears to be numbered 50312 or 50313. The account number listed on the checks is 7200431, and the bank does not have any account with that number. In the bank’s address, the word street is misspelled with an extra “e” and reads “Streeet.” Also, the name of the city of the bank is misspelled and reads “Rockpork.” All of the checks used to date have been received in connection with an Internet game or sweepstakes.
Authentic cashier’s checks issued by the bank are blue in color and bear the logo of Rockport National Bank in the upper left portion of the check. The words “Cashier’s Check” appear in the lower left corner of the check. The check does not contain the address or telephone number of the bank. The bank number printed in the upper right corner, below the check number, should be 53-526.
You can verify the authenticity of Rockport National Bank’s cashier’s checks by contacting Kathryn Bruni, Security Officer, at (978) 309-1230, by fax at (978) 546-3263 or via email at [kbruni@rockportnational.com].
