The above-named bank has reported that counterfeit cashier’s checks issued in the bank’s name and using an incorrect routing number of 043001435 are being presented for payment.

The counterfeit checks may be identified by the following: a standard check stock that is light green in color with the bank’s name printed in the top-center portion of the check followed by an incorrect address and telephone number of:  490 E North Avenue, Pittsburg, PA  15212, 1-888-239-1658.  The words “FIRST NATIONAL” appear in the upper-left corner of the check, and the words “CASHIER’S CHECK” appear in the lower-left corner.  One of two statements appears inside of the check border that reads:  “THIS DOCUMENT HAS A COLORED BACKGROUND AND MICROPRINTING.  THE REVERSE SIDE INCLUDES AN ARTIFICIAL WATERMARK.” or “THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS SECURITY FEATURES – MICROPRINING HIDDEN VOID PANTOGRAPH, PAINTED ON SECURITY PAPER WITH INVISIBLE FIBRES AND CHEMICAL REACTANTS.”  The second statement contains a typographical error and alternative spelling, shown above.  The remitter line appears in the upper-left portion of the instrument, and the statement “SIGNATURE HAS A COLOURED BACKGROUND” may appear below the signature line.

Authentic cashier’s checks issued by the bank are mint green in color with a border.  The following statement appears inside of the top border:  “Front of document features colored background inside this high resolution border and a white band outside of border.  Back of document has gray printing on a white background.  ‘Security Document’ is micro-printed in bottom border and ‘Authorized Signature’ in signature line.”  The bank’s logo of shaking hands in front of a flag and the bank’s name appear in the top-left portion of the check.  The words, “CASHIER’S CHECK” appear in an enclosed box in the top-center portion of the instrument with the Remitter line directly beneath.  The statement “DRAWER: FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF PENNSLVANIA” appears in the lower-left portion of the check directly above the signature line.
