WASHINGTON—The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency today announced its 2009 schedule of workshops for national community bank directors.
"These are extraordinary and challenging times in the financial services industry. Never has it been more important for new directors of community banks to obtain a secure understanding of their fiduciary duties, or for experienced directors to enhance their knowledge and risk management skills," said Comptroller of the Currency John C. Dugan. "OCC bank director workshops are good opportunities for bank directors to gain useful insight from our experienced cadre of national bank examiners."
The OCC offers these workshops around the country throughout the year. The workshops are targeted to outside directors of national community banks with assets of less than $1 billion. Management directors may also find the workshops beneficial. Workshops are limited to 50 participants each. Attendees receive pre-course reading and course materials, an OCC telephone seminar CD, other supervisory material, a continental breakfast, and lunch.
For more information and to register online, visit https://www.occ.gov/about/occ-for-you/bankers/bankers-education/index-bankers-education.html or call (336) 451-0557.
Attendees should consider registering for more than one workshop where multiple workshops are scheduled on consecutive days.
